Kick Asthma Education Program

The Hendrick Kick Asthma Education Program is a year-round asthma awareness and education program. The goal of the program is to promote asthma awareness among children ages 5-17, parents, teachers and school nurses. We teach children and parents how to manage their asthma and keep it under control. The following components are part of the program:

Education programs in area schools
Parent workshops
Teacher workshops
Participation in health fairs held in the community

Each child participating in the school program receives the following:

One peak flow meter
A medication spacer device
Asthma management plan
Written material with tips for environmental control for the home, trigger and warning sign recognition and understanding your asthma medications
One equipment backpack
