What is Rainbows?
Rainbows - is an international program that provides children with the opportunity to receive special attention while learning to cope with loss. Grieving children often struggle to identify and express the confusing emotions of grief, and through this program, they are given the opportunity to process their emotions and feelings through peer interaction and support. Rainbows is for ages kindergarten through twelfth grade. Groups are led by trained, adult volunteers. The program lasts six weeks and is offered twice a year, concurrent with the fall and spring school semesters.
The next Rainbows session is September 16 through October 21, 2008.
What is Camp Courage?
Camp courage is a supportive environment for children who have suffered similar losses from death, divorce or separation. Children participate in recreational activities that promote self-esteem, encourage self-healing, and provide an outlet for unexpressed emotions. In addition, with the help of specially trained counselors, campers develop healthy coping skills as a result of the variety of grief exercises offered, which ultimately help build self confidence, trust, and an understanding of the grief process.
